Samurai

This series is my own re-interpretation of scenes from feudal Japan---each painting is based on an original print.  Japanese woodblock prints--the works of Hokusai, Utagawa, Hiroshige and others--influenced the Impressionists and other artists of the 20th Century such as Van Gogh, Matisse, Picasso, and Monet, and continue to captivate today.

The warriors in this series, rendered in graffiti spray paint and traditional oils, are a tribute and homage to both Japanese woodblock masters and the Western artists who have inspired me.
